Safeguarding Trust Through Transparency and Accountability

Diaspora Care is seeking experienced finance and governance professionals to join our Finance & Audit Team—a dedicated group of volunteers committed to ensuring the highest standards of financial stewardship, transparency, and accountability.

As a trusted oversight function, the Finance & Audit Team plays a critical role in strengthening donor confidence, supporting responsible financial management, and promoting sound governance across all Diaspora Care programs and operations. By helping safeguard the organization’s resources, team members enable Diaspora Care to maximize its social impact while maintaining the trust of donors, partners, volunteers, and beneficiaries.

Your expertise will help ensure that every contribution is managed responsibly and every decision reflects our commitment to integrity and good governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and provide oversight of financial policies, budgeting processes, and internal controls.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations to strengthen financial sustainability.
  • Support the development of transparent financial reporting for donors, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Review grant management, fundraising accountability, and the appropriate use of charitable funds.
  • Conduct or coordinate periodic internal financial reviews and assist with external audit preparation when needed.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend improvements to governance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Advise the leadership team on financial planning, reserves, and long-term sustainability strategies.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, ethical conduct, and responsible stewardship throughout the organization.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome professionals with experience in:

  • Accounting and financial reporting
  • External or internal auditing
  • Corporate finance
  • Banking and investment
  • Risk management
  • Taxation and compliance
  • Nonprofit financial management
  • Corporate governance
  • Financial technology (FinTech)
  • Legal or regulatory compliance

Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, CMA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, CFA, or equivalent are highly valued but not required. We also welcome experienced finance leaders who are passionate about applying their expertise to create meaningful social impact.

Commitment

  • Volunteer position
  • Approximately 3–5 hours per month
  • Virtual meetings with occasional participation in governance and strategic planning sessions
  • Flexible engagement based on professional expertise and availability
