Student Welcome Program

August 29 @ 8:00 am9:30 am

Helping Indonesian Students Feel at Home, Wherever They Study

Starting a new chapter in a foreign country is both exciting and challenging. Every year, thousands of Indonesian students travel abroad to pursue higher education, bringing with them dreams, ambitions, and the hope of building a brighter future.

The Diaspora Care Student Welcome Program is designed to ensure that no Indonesian student begins this journey alone.

Through this program, we connect newly arrived students with the local Indonesian diaspora community, providing practical guidance, mentorship, networking opportunities, and a welcoming support system that helps them adapt to their new academic and cultural environment.

Whether it’s understanding local customs, navigating university life, building professional networks, or simply finding new friends who speak the same language, our community is here to help every student feel connected from day one.

Program Objectives

  • Welcome Indonesian students to their new country and local community.
  • Help students transition smoothly into academic and everyday life abroad.
  • Foster friendships and strengthen connections within the Indonesian diaspora.
  • Connect students with experienced mentors, professionals, and alumni.
  • Promote student well-being, resilience, and personal development.
  • Encourage students to become active volunteers and future leaders within Diaspora Care.

Who Should Attend?

The Student Welcome Program is open to:

  • Newly arrived Indonesian students
  • International students beginning undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral studies
  • Exchange students
  • Scholarship recipients
  • Indonesian students transferring between universities or countries

Senior students, alumni, academics, and professionals are also encouraged to participate as mentors and volunteers.

Moving abroad is easier when you have a community that cares.

The Student Welcome Program offers more than practical information—it provides friendships, mentorship, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. By connecting students with the broader Indonesian diaspora, we help create lifelong relationships that support both personal and professional growth.

For many participants, this program is the beginning of a journey that extends beyond university. Today’s new students become tomorrow’s mentors, volunteers, community leaders, and changemakers who continue the tradition of gotong royong by supporting the next generation.

Be Part of the Community

Whether you’re arriving for your first semester or volunteering to welcome new students, your participation helps strengthen the global Indonesian family.

Together, we can ensure that every Indonesian student studying abroad feels welcomed, supported, connected, and inspired to succeed.

Welcome to your new home away from home. Welcome to Diaspora Care.
